A Proud Family Tradition Since 1976

The Slacks Farm journey began in 1976 when Steve Hayman, aged just 18, opened his first butcher’s shop. Named after the Hayman family home — a working farm in Edgworth, Lancashire — the business was built on a simple promise: to provide exceptional-quality produce alongside friendly, dependable service.

In 2010, Steve’s son Mark joined the family business, learning the trade and sharing the values that had helped establish Slacks Farm’s reputation within the local community. Together, they served customers for many years from their stall at Accrington Market, becoming a familiar and trusted presence until the market’s closure marked the end of a significant chapter.

Determined to continue the family legacy, Steve and Mark opened a new shop in the heart of Chorley in 2017. Today, they continue to run the Chorley shop together, combining decades of experience with a shared commitment to quality, service and traditional butchery.

Since opening in Chorley, Slacks Farm has expanded beyond the shopfront, developing a successful online store and local delivery service. As customer shopping habits continue to evolve, Steve and Mark see online retail as a major part of the business’s future, allowing them to bring Slacks Farm quality to even more homes while maintaining the personal service that has always been at the heart of the company.

Nearly 50 years after it first began, Slacks Farm remains a proudly family-run business, committed to supplying carefully sourced, high-quality ingredients and serving the local community with the same dedication and care that inspired its founding.
